While FBRI has a large research plot database and felled-tree database, these data are strongest in only a few tree species and regions. The Institute is looking to work closely with any operational working forest to install a few well-designed, new field trials. For calibration of growth models, the strongest field design is the installation of a pair of newly planted plots using a Nelder spoke wheel design. These installations should be located using pre-stratified macro-site factors. FBRI would be pleased to assist in both the stratification and design of new installations. Please feel free to contact us.
The FBRI welcomes interaction with graduate students and university faculty members interested in forest biometrics. Please feel free to contact us, we may be able to provide:
- Funded research projects
- Data sets
- Guidance and advice
