2019 and 2020 updates include incorporating the services available through satellite technology. On the user side, FPS is now working with additional database systems, such as Microsoft SQL Server Express.
The years 2010 – 2018 added the important factor of the shade tolerance of tree species to the data library. On the technical side, the software was updated for Windows 7 in March of 2011.
Many of the updates and new features added to FPS during the years 2000 – 2009 accommodated the affects of thinning and silvicultural practices. New accounting functionality was also added.
From an academic project, starting in 1972, to a robust forestry projection tool, FPS went through numerous technology updates and new features in the years 1972 – 1999. Some of the changes were results of new forestry practices.
